A different approach.
What is Version2?
Version2 is the first AI R&D lab specifically focused on advancing fundraising in the nonprofit sector. Our Virtual Engagement Officers (VEOs) use AI to both successfully and autonomously manage portfolios of donors, similar to the way traditional fundraiser do. This means that our AI takes sets of 1,000 prospects, narrows that list down to around 200 donors through a permission-based opt-in discovery processes, qualifies each donor, builds relationships with donors by establishing a cadence of autonomous and personalized engagement touch points, makes natural solicitations, closes gifts, and executes two to three points of stewardship donors that break through the digital barriers of AI. All autonomously with no human intervention.
Virtual Engagement Officer Capabilities
The Virtual Engagement Officer communicates with donors using traditional
moves-management engagement strategies. The ultimate goal is for a gift to be the natural outcome of an autonomous engagement process.

What is Autonomous Fundraising?Autonomous Fundraising was created as a solution for the unmanaged majority of donors. VEOs, VSOs, and VPGOs form a collection of trusted digital labor that practices relational fundraising at scale.
-
What is a VEO?The Virtual Engagement Officer (VEO), communicates with donors using traditional moves-management engagement strategies of cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation. The ultimate goal is for a gift to be the natural outcome of an autonomous engagement process.
-
What is a VSO?The Virtual Stewardship Officer (VSO), ensures all donors, regardless of giving level, experience a world class, personalized stewardship experience and donor journey. Incredible stewardship leads to donor loyalty and renewals, the primary measure of success for the VSO.
-
What is a VPGO?The Virtual Planned Giving Officer (VPGO), delivers tailored information about various planned giving vehicles, and guides donors through the initial stages of the planned giving journey, including education and discovery about individual interests and affinities, before seamlessly transitioning qualified and interested prospects to human planned giving officers.
-
Why would and organization use a VEO?The VEO empowers mission-driven teams to grow their impact by adding trusted digital fundraising capacity to their organization, bringing donors closer to the cause. The VEO excels at building relationships with donors you do not have the capacity to manage in gift officer portfolios by bringing authentic, two-way conversations that reflect your organization’s voice and values.
-
How many donors does a VEO manage?A VEO manages a portfolio of 1,000 donors and/or prospects, and reaches each with 8-12 individualized touchpoints across 12 months to build year-round engagements that lead to the natural outcome of giving.
-
How do Autonomous Fundraisers communicate with donors?Autonomous Fundraisers (VEOs, VSOs, and VPGOs) primarily use email and text messages to communicate. It also sends robotically handwritten notes in the mail, such as a stewardship message when a donor makes their first gift. It also uses occasional video messages that feature the VEO’s avatar, which can be linked in text or email conversations. The avatar video is also the primary way the VEO introduces itself in the first communication, always with full transparency about its AI-powered role.
-
How does a VEO learn about my organization and know what to say with donors?Authentic engagement starts with the right inputs, so the VEO accesses its Organizational Knowledge Base, built from, and consistently fueled with, your organization’s own content (e.g. website, fundraising and marketing emails, newsletters, event calendars, social posts, and the various channels you use to communicate with your community.)
-
Do my donors know that AI is connecting with them?Yes. Great relationships are built on transparency. In the VEO's introduction to a donor, it starts by identifying itself as an AI-powered fundraiser. Each VEO also has its own unique landing page so donors can learn more about Autonomous Fundraising, understand what the AI does, and why your organization chose to engage with AI.
-
Do VEOs replace fundraisers? No. Autonomous Fundraisers aren’t a replacement for human talent, instead, act as trusted digital labor for fundraising. They are force multipliers that address gaps in current fundraising programs, limited resources and available talent make it difficult to staff.
-
How long does it take to implement Version2.ai?Three weeks. Around 8 to 10 hours of your time. Start to finish, with real results on the other side. To learn more about the onboarding process click here.

-
Who manages the VEO?The VEO is typically managed by one or a combination of individuals who oversee annual and/or leadership giving.
-
Can a donor interact with a VEO in two-way communication?Yes, the VEO is designed for two-way engagements, including responses, that build a relationship with donors over time, leading to the natural outcome of giving.
-
