The $2 Million Mark: What This Milestone Reveals About Fundraising's Evolution

This week, we reached a milestone that speaks to what’s possible when organizations can finally give personal and strategic attention to more of their donors.

Together with over 50 partners, our Virtual Engagement Officers (VEOs) have now raised over $2 million in donor giving. That’s more than just activity—it’s real two-way conversations that lead to the natural outcome of giving from real people.

Behind the numbers are meaningful outcomes: gifts from donors who hadn’t given in years, existing relationships strengthened, and conversations that resulted in multi-year pledges and handoffs to major gift portfolios. With a clear, structured portfolio and intentional regular communications, the Virtual Engagement Officer helped ignite philanthropic passions and earn a spot for each of its partner organizations in their donors’ lives.

This is a glimpse of what’s possible when more and more donors have the chance to be known, heard, and engaged.

The need is clear. In most organizations, more than 95% of donors sit outside of managed portfolios because teams simply don’t have the capacity to reach them all individually. When that many donors go another year without a meaningful interaction, the divide between managed and unmanaged donors in the traditional model starts to break down.

Our team invented Autonomous Fundraising with the very specific mission of closing this gap with trusted digital labor. The VEO shows up like a great fundraiser does: with consistency, care, and a clear strategy that evolves with each relationship.

What’s most important to keep in mind is that we’re still just at the very beginning. The future we’re building at Version2.ai with Autonomous Fundraising is exponentially bigger than where we’ve been.
